In ten days I get my cast off and will begin PT. I had tendon repair, ankle scope, and Brostrom procedure. I know all too well how PT goes for tendon repair but am curious what the foot will feel like after Brostrom. Is there a lot of stiffness? How about pain during rehab? My pain level has been very manageable since surgery (July 21). I'm just looking for a little feedback as to what to expect when the cast comes off.
PTT surgery with osteotomy 11/05
Peroneal tendon repair 12/06
Ankle scope 2/08
Peroneal repair, scope Brostrom 7/10
I had a Brostrom repair in July. Started PT about 2 weeks ago. The ankle does get stiff, but PT helps loosen it up. PT is not easy, but it definitely helps. My ankle is sore during PT (mainly an aching pain), but always feels better shortly after. Be diligent about doing prescribed exercises at home. You will be surprised at how quickly you progress. Good luck!
