Peroneal Tendon Surgery...What to expect

I have just been told that I should have surgery on my peroneal tendon to repair subluxation and a split. I have tried the conservative route for the last year and pain has only gotten worse, even after 6 weeks in a boot. MRI shows a tear, doctor said subluxation.

I am wondering exactly what to expect. Realistically, what kind of time frame am I looking at for recovery...at each stage if everything goes well?

Re: Peroneal Tendon Surgery...What to expect

My first surgery involved the peroneal tendon split tear and also subluxation. I had some other things fixed as well, but the pain wasn't so bad after the surgery. The worst of it was the "trying to walk again" period around 12-16 weeks. Once the 4 mos part hit, I was feeling better. My dr. didn't allow me to run until 20 weeks post-op. Also, a lot of calf raises were out of the question. It takes awhile and you don't want it to tear again. Good news is that it makes a big difference when you get that tendon fixed. You will feel much better, it will just be several months down the road.
