I just registered today and wanted to share my experience with you and want ask if anyone else is having the same problems as myself.
In late September 2010 I had key hole surgery to both feet to straighten the big toes ( screws in both the short and long bones ) and also had both bunions ground as flat as the surgeon could manage. Both feet were extremely painful for the first 6-8 weeks and the surgeon said that they looked perfect on the x rays and that I should now start walking without crutches and should flex my toes back and forth to regain movement.
It is now 12 weeks post op and both feet are still swollen and quite painful most of the time. I do elevate them when I can which gives slight relief.
Also the side of one of the big toes is still numb and gives a sharp pain occasionally. Has anyone experienced the same for this amount of time? Any feedback I could get would be fantastic as the surgeon said that as keyhole for this procedure is quite recent, threes not much written about the recovery period.
ps the GP says keep taking the tablets . It will go in the end.
