Calcaneal osteotomy, modified Brostrom procedure, gastrocnemius slide

Procedures: Calcaneal osteotomy, modified Brostrom procedure, gastrocnemius slide

I'm almost 3 weeks post op and was wondering how long it is before swelling begins to settle down. I have two companies wanting to fly me in for interviews but I understand flying may not be an option so I'm considering driving. Drive would be 12 hours. I'm just wondering how long others that have had a calcaneal osteotomy had to wait before they could keep their foot down (below waist level) for more than a 3 hours without complications (swelling and/or pain)? 4 hours? Any feedback is appreciated so I can make plans.

I had the Brostrom and arthroscopy and it was about 12 weeks before I could keep my foot down for three hours without pain or swelling. At 8 weeks I could keep it down but there was lots of swelling which caused pain.

Thanks for the reply. I had that done on my other ankle years ago and didn't have any problems after walking cast. My big concern is the calcaneal osteotomy as this is new to me and miserable. It swells up after a few hours sitting with foot at waist level (and occasionally down). Need to find out when I will be able to sit with it down for a few hours and not have major swelling problems.
