Well it has been almost 4 weeks since I had my surgery! Everything has gone great so far... i wound up getting the evans osteotomy, calcaneal osteotomy, kidner procedure & calf lengthening. I was scheduled to have a tendon transfer but after getting in there the dr. said it wasnt needed. He did tell me he placed a plate some screws and a plug...I still have a hard cast on for 2 more weeks. I did go back to work 12 days after my surgery. It has been interesting to do things so different now. I honestly can say i was expecting it to be much worse then it was. I really didnt have as much pain as i thought i would. I asked for only tylenol 3 because the other pain meds they were giving me in the hospital made me sick. I stayed in the hospital overnight after the surgery which was probably for the best... i am now just hoping that all of this was worth it and i will be able to walk long distances and not be in pain anymore!
For me, the surgery was so well worth it. I am just about a year post op and can not believe how good my foot feels. I wear a brace at work bur other then that, my foot is much better. It truly is worth going through the long recovery to be pain free and be able to walk normal again.
Hi. I had a tendon transfer, gastroc recession and rebuilt spring ligament structure in rt foot almost six months ago. Felt ok at about 4-5 mos, but never had enough relief to feel like I don't need medicine. Now, much, much worse. Left foot started to fail immediately upon crutches. Now both feet are extremely painful. Doc prescribed pt and custom orthotics. Neither help. Had mri and rt foot has two torn tendons and no attachment to tendon anchor. Left only shows fluid. Seeing new specialist in boston mon. Surgeon who operated says this is normal but is failing to treat me. Is this normal to be worse at this point? I can barely care for myself. Very depressed. This has been going on too long. Anyone else looking at a potentially failed surgery?
I am looking a potential revision surgery but mine is due to it being broken during physical therapy by a student in her clinicals. My doctor has been great. He has been aggressive in the treatments. In July I was wearing shoes and now I am in a cast.
You're doing the right thing seeking another opinion. You deserve to have a pain free life.

Buster- if you are still checking this- what state do you live in and what orthopedic surgeon performed your surgery? I'm impressed that he did less than was planned- I *probably* have PTT and am *probably* having a tendon transfer, but I'm scared because a few OS have told me it's NOT my tendon so I really want to have confidence that mine won't do anything that isn't necessary!
So, new doc says Im back to square one. I have to have the whole thing redone except with bonework this time. Triple artherdosis. He is concerned that my replaced tendons are shot though.
That is horrible. I am so sorry to hear that you are having such a hard time. How can the surgeon say it is normal when basically nothing worked? That just has to be so frustrating.
