2nd peroneal tendon surgery/sural nerve removal

I had surgery in November of last year to repair subluxation and tears/flattening of peroneal tendons. Have had pain ever since. Today MRI shows lots of scar tissue, tears, tendinopathy, synovitis. Looks like I'm having more surgery. Also having ALOT of nerve pain so we are going to remove sural nerve.

Anyone had this happen or have advice to offer. Am not looking forward to another surgery. The first one was horribly painful!!

Wow I'm sorry. You story scares me. Why didn't the repair last? Would you have fared better with a tendon transfer? That seems so soon to have it fail.

Re: 2nd peroneal tendon surgery/sural nerve removal

I had surgery March 2011 and am having pain again in my ankle. I jammed it to the side in September doing a good deed and tried to nurse it back- but finally went back to the doctor last week. She is having me try PT, but the therapist thinks I will need surgery again. How did the surgery go? My MRI won't be ordered until February so I am in limbo for now.

Re: 2nd peroneal tendon surgery/sural nerve removal

I am so sorry to hear you may have a 2nd surgery. I had surgery to fix a tear in my peroneal tendon in November and it seems to be doing really good. Just returned to work yesterday and it felt weak and a little sore, but nothing too terrible. Is there a chance that stretching your foot will help break up the scar tissue?
