How should I start walking after a bunionectomy?

It has been 6 weeks since my left foot bunionectomy, so I can now ditch the crutches and start walking. I still can't get into a normal shoe so I have to use the special surgical boot. I tried to walk this morning and I fell. I just can't seem to walk. It hurts when I put pressure on my foot. Like, an electric shock.

I was just wondering how should I start walking? Should I take baby steps? Is the electric shock normal? Any help in how I can start walking would be much appreciated. Thank you.

Start out on your heel only. Slowly work up to the whole foot.
