Cortisol flare lasting for weeks not 3days is this normal
I had a cortisol shot on ankle to reduce chronic pain, 1yr of chronic pain. Pain killers never worked. So orthopedie gave me cortisol shot & the pain has been really bad for 14days now. On day 8 I went to see GP who said to come back affer day 17 AND he said there was no warmth in ankle so no infection. if pain is still there & he will then refer me back to orthopedie again.
At this point, I want to know if a cortisol flare can last as long as two weeks? I thought it was 2-3 days max?I guess I'm here for reassurance, hoping someone comes here to to say they had a similar experience where cortisol flare lasted so long but they are now fine. Or is this a sign that these injections are not for me?
Re: Cortisol flare lasting for weeks not 3days is this normal
UPDATE: Cortisol flare over since that post! Now ankle feels good for the most part, just the occassional pain here & there so it works but I had flat foot before, now feels even flatter, scheduled to see doc in two weeks.
So yay, would say it worked somewhat. Pain in ankle is relatively less but foot still swollen. When I went for MRI, had inflammation inside of foot & pain in ankle but only ankle was injected , wondering if inside of foot has to be injected to reduce inflammation?
