Weight bearing and exhaustion (heel fracture)

Hello,
I'm at week 10 and am full weight bearing..after encouragement from my surgeon and physical therapist..

I don't feel much pain after work...but I'm exhausted...I want to go to sleep immediately after dinner.

Did anyone else feel such exhaustion?

Michael

Re: Weight bearing and exhaustion (heel fracture)

Yep....I"m just over 17 weeks...and I'm supposed to be onsite at work for 2-4 hours and then come home and work the rest - that way I can lay down and use the laptop. WHen I DO that...it's great! But last week I worked there for 8-9 hours and then yesterday I was there 13 (It's budgeting time and getting ready for month end)...and I'm exhausted. I think all I did was drive thru fast food ...eat on the way home and then get my shower and sleep.

I do hope my energy levels come back!

Re: Weight bearing and exhaustion (heel fracture)

Yup, that's pretty normal. Healing takes energy, plus being laid up for a while means you've lost stamina. Keep eating good nutritious food, sleeping plenty, and doing as much as you feel up to, and your energy will come back.
