Question Post Calcaneus Surgery

I am now 9 weeks post calcaneus surgery. Have an ell shaped plate and nine screws. I am still experiencing some swelling in the foot and around the ankle. No real pain, but feels like I am stepping on jello when I place some weight on the foot. Is this normal? The Doctor did not say anything about icing it down. Should I be? At my last appointment I was told that I only needed to wear my boot when I go out to protect the foot form injury. Look forward to replies. Thank you Tom

Re: Post Calcaneus Surgery

Were you cleared for partial weight bearing? At 9 weeks things are still going to be pretty weird. You may still have funny colors and shooting sensations.

So while I don't know what you got going on, but I know I had lots of weird stuff going on at that time.

Once I started bearing weight by pt told me to ice it as many times a day as I could. I did 2-3. I still elevated it when I could too.

Re: Post Calcaneus Surgery

Thanks for your reply. At my last appointment, the Doctor told me I could start to put a little weight on the foot, but not full weight being. I will se him again on the 30th of this month and he said that they may start me on full weight being then. That will be almost 12 weeks since the operation. I have the same weid sensations you have described.
Thanks Tom.........
