Best shoes for stress fractures

I have stress fractures in both feet on top..In cast boots for awhile...but when I get out of them I wanted to know which shoes would be the best to prevent this from EVER happening again..i have researched a few: Earth, Naot, Easy Spirit.. I can't really tell which ones would be better though

Re: Best shoes for stress fractures

It is not easy to figure out. Do you know how you got the stress fractures? I know that when I first went back to shoes, I needed something that had a lot of support, but I had a stress fracture of the third met. Ask the doctor.

It's not always based on that. The other poster is correct - what exactly was the cause? What were you doing when it happened? I had one in the 4th met a few years ago caused by too many miles on my jogging shoes. But I still wear heels, dance, jog, etc.

Re: Best shoes for stress fractures

Go to a shoe store with a pedorthist, or a real privately owned running shoe store. The "best" shoes vary depending on the shape of your foot, your stride and the activities that you do.

I had an ankle injury, and after, I went to a quality sneaker store. They sold me these insoles that were great! I never realized that my shoes weren't very comfortable until I got a pair that just hugged my arches perfectly.

Re: Best shoes for stress fractures

I second going to a quality sports shoe store and have them fit you properly. You may have a favorite shoe - I did - and it may be all wrong for your foot - mine was! They put me in the right shoe and I've had great results after multiple foot surgeries. I just let too many miles pile up. They say 300-400 per pair is the max. I watch that now.
