Lipoma on ankle after sprain

Hello everyone, I'm hoping someone here could offer me some advice about what I'm going through. At the end of August I sprained my ankle pretty badly. I did a couple months of PT and it has not gotten better. I have a lump on my ankle which my dr diagnosed as a lipoma or ganglion cyst. I am in the process of scheduling a surgery for next month. Has anyone here had a similar experience? If so what can I expect? Thanks!

Re: Lipoma on ankle after sprain

I had a lypoma removed from my thigh 2 years ago by a plastic surgeon. It was the easiest surgery I ever had. I had a quick recovery, less than 2 weeks. I recommend a pastic surgeon because they don't leave you with a 'hole' where the lypoma was. You can't even tell I had a lump there at all. I also have one on my ankle that I will continue to ignore. I was told a long time ago that i could have 'a lump or a scar'.

Re: Lipoma on ankle after sprain

thanks for the quick reply! I am choosing to get it removed because it is causing me pain, the dr said that it is probably pushing on something and that is why it is painful. I'm hoping for a quick recovery!
