Scarf bunion removal, 1 foot at a time.
I have bunions on both feet and after seeing 2 podiatrists, I have decided to schedule my R foot, scarf bunionectomy, in the fall, with the L one scheduled about 10 weeks later. I am a cyclist, so don't want to have the surgery until almost, the end of cycling season. I am a part-time, massage therapist. I work less than 15 hours per week, but the time I spend working, I am on my feet.
I have several questions.
First, is the amount of time I am planning between surgeries adequate?
I dread going through the whole surgery ordeal twice, but I am concerned about how i would drive, and do other everyday things in my life if I have both feet done at once. Also concerned about how much time I will be off of work if I have both done at once. (haven't discussed that option with my surgeon yet.) I don't think it would be feasable for me, unless my insurance will pay for some type of nursing or help in my home.
I am wondering how others have handled these issues?
How difficult is it to have a bi-lateral scarf removal done?
How difficult is it to have the surgeries back to back?
What would be the difference in recovery time?
Hoping there are some out there who can share their experiences with me. I want to make the best decision possible regarding this.
Thanks for your input.
