Re: Terriifed foot surgery so scared

P.S. If they give you a script for 80 Oxycodone...that is roughly 4.5 days worth of "edge relief" pills if you take them every 3.5 hours. Just FYI.

I'm a little behind in this but I want you to be thinking about what the meds can do to your elimination processs....suggest Metamucil-like regimen now and Miralax ASAP post op..I know you're not eating much but it is very important to be pro-active..Good thoughts and prayers to you

Also 2-500 mg of Magnesium works like a charm.

If only I had known about Union..a good friend went there and she was treated with genuine care and understanding. Big Big Difference.on my story and hers regarding patient care....you live and you learn.

Re: Terriifed foot surgery so scared

I never heard about union. I just talked to hubby and he is yelling and screaming again. He isn't going to help. I'll do what I can with my cell and computer and see if I can talk to someone there. Ty and please pray for me. Hubbys yelling and screaming and no support doesn't make this easy. I wish he realized if I don't get some assurances about pain I probably won't be able to go through it Monday.

Re: Terriifed foot surgery so scared

Pain Management center there called me back and assured me I am inpatient and the doctor there would be available to help with my pain management. It sounds like my hubby and the surgeons office went through hoops with the insurance company to get this scheduled in patient, so maybe it is in my best interest to just relax and keep calm. Uggg!

Re: Terriifed foot surgery so scared

Loretta...make sure you have someone to stay with you all night. Doesn't sound like husband will be a good nurse. I stayed the night in that hospital on the med surg floor (16)with open heart patients....so how much attention do you think I got? Every request will take at least an hour so whomever stays with you needs to be on top of it!

What pain are you most concerned about? Are in pain now? What level---1-10 ten being worse. YOU HAD A BABY!!! After I saw Childbirth and the pain involved, I wouldn't dare do that...I am the biggest chicken EVER.

I am worried about the post op pain. It is the fear of the unknown! I had sinus surgery which I think was bad.

Re: Terriifed foot surgery so scared

The pain is tolerable with meds but still hurts, period..there is no way around it. I would call it throbbing at a level 7-8. You most likely will get a dilaudid pain pump which you can control every 6 minutes. When I look back...the recovery pain has been worse than the actually surgery because I couldn't walk for 3.5 months. Now I am learning to walk again with my new foot which feels so weird. The nerve pain has been my issue and now the screw pain from putting a shoe on....irritated the Achilles tendon. Thank GOD for this forum and the people I have met on it! I don't feel so alone.
