Heyy, so i'm now just over a week post op (lat. column lengthening, achilles tendon lengthening and cotton osteotomy) and whilst getting my cast changed today they metioned that in two weeks i would be coming back to get the k-wire out (i think it's from the lateral column legthening but i'm not sure). this was the first i heard of this and i'm really scared, i have this lack of trust in local anestetic-don't know why- and i'm scared it will hurt. i was just wondering if anybody else has had the wire out and if so then what did they do?
I had two K wires when I had double bunionectomy on my right foot. My wires stuck out of my foot for four weeks. I didn't have local anesthetic (probably because they were easy to access). I had absolutely no pain, none, not one bit. Having the sutures removed was more uncomfortable. Believe it or not, the wires come right out. Search for threads regarding the removal. Good luck!!
