Question PTTD Post-Op Partial Weight Bearing & Therapy

I am 5 weeks post op from a triple arthrodesis and Achilles tendon lengthening as a result of years suffering Stage 4 PTTD. Anyone had this done recently? What kind of therapy did you get and how did they do your partial weight bearing? I'm curious as to what I have ahead of me.

Re: PTTD Post-Op Partial Weight Bearing & Therapy

I had early stage 2 and had calcaneal osteotomy, 1st tmt fusion and gastroc lengthening 5 months ago. I had PT start once I was weightbearing as tolerated in the walking boot which was essentially PWB.

Therapy progresses you through the stages of WBing to get you back into normal shoes and a normal gait pattern. They will focus on improving your foot/ankle ROM, strength, balance and walking capacity through manual therapy and exercise activities. They may also use modalities such as electrical stimulation, ultrasound and ice/heat as needed.

Hope this helps and all the work now will pay-off soon.

Re: PTTD Post-Op Partial Weight Bearing & Therapy

I am 20 months post flat foot reconstruction. I had osteotomies but not tripple fusion. I was nwb for 8 weeks followed by pwb for about three weeks. I started out with 10% of my body weight on my foot and gradually increased over a three week period until I was fwb. I don't remember the exact time frame but the doctor gave me pretty detailed instructions about how to go from partial to full weight bearing
