Injections for Plantar Facicitis

Has anyone been given the Injections in the feet for Plantar Facitis, The Doctor has given me a prescription for these but I am not sure about them...any feed back on pain, if they work and for how long would be greatly be appreciated, at the moment I have brought new shoes (Orthaheels) and am doing golf ball exercises but need more.

Re: Injections for Plantar Facicitis

I had one cortisone shot in each foot and along with orthotics, stretching and exercising, I've never had any further issues with plantar fasciitis in either foot!

Re: Injections for Plantar Facicitis

I had cortisone injections in both feet. The pain is uncomfortable for a few seconds, but really isn't too bad. Mine lasted about three months and then she switched me to orthotics to wear in my shoes - which has really helped alot. Now I just have to be careful and do exercises when I feel the pain coming on again.

Re: Injections for Plantar Facicitis

I am one of those who had a bad result from the injections. I had a total of 2 injections, spaced 4 months apart and wound up with a torn plantar fascia. The injections were given by a podiatrist and when I finally went to an Orthopedist, he felt the tear was a result of the injections. If you're having just one shot, it shouldn't be a problem.

They are just shoes that you can get from foot Locker, I wear them all the time and they are helping (Just like Thongs)

the best thing for plantar facitis is STRETCHING. The golf ball is good, but if you put your good foot on the floor, bend the other knee and raise the heel, it will do wonders. I had it so badly that I could hardly get out of bed and the stretching did the trick. Walking barefooted is also excellent. An orho heel may give you relief for a short time, but, in the long run, it makes the plantar facia very, weak. Inserts are nothing but a money maker for people. I had them and they atrophied my muscles to a GREAT extent, so I am speaking from experience.

Re: Injections for Plantar Facicitis

Hi 1b2, I've heard mixed reviews about the injections. I never had them so no experience here. One thing you can do for pain is take a partially filled water bottle and freeze it and use it to roll under the arch of your foot after exercising and when its hurting. It really helped me. Fits right in there. I keep it under my desk at work when I worked.

Also, I am one that has had the surgery done. PLanters Faciitis Release. It worked wonderful!! I am so glad I had it done (it was many yrs ago). I've not had any problems with it. (Knock on wood lol)

I also taped my foot before the surgery, trying to keep that arch supported and that helped. I never went bare footed, even in the house. I wore Birkenstocks in the summer and New Balance or CLarks or Soft Spots in the Winter (and shoes similar to those). I also kept several pair of shoes in my trunk when I would go out shopping and when the pain would kick in I'd put on another pair of shoes and it would help for a little while.

I did the stretches before I got out of bed in the am, before those feet hit the floor. Never had the night time brace.

THat's my experience, everyone's is different I wish you the best of luck because there's nothing like foot pain. ((((HUGS)))) cj
