Question Hammer Toes after Bunionectomy

I had Bunionectomy surgery a few years ago on both of my feet, but now I have hammer toes in my 3rd and 4th toes on both feet (which I've never had before) and I'm wondering if anyone else has had this happen? Is this a common occurrence after having this particular surgery? Shortly after I had the procedures, my husband noticed that I was 'crunching' my toes when wearing flip flops, and when he pointed it out to me, I had no idea my toes were doing that. It was definitely happening naturally, or subconsciously, and now I have formed hammer toes. I'm a huge flip flop, sandal wearer....and am so disturbed by these unsightly toes.
Has anyone else experienced this?
