major problems years after bunion surgery

Hello, I have a bunion that was a bone deformity from birth. I have no sensation from my knee down. I had a leg lengthing in 1999 and also had 2 screws inserted into foot at the same.time. Now 13 years later while living with chronic pain all along I'm wondering if I should have the screws removed
The pain starts in my big toe and shoots up to my knee. The toe is swollen constantly and so is my ankle. I've seen three doctors and only one believes it's the screws. But I can't live with the pain anymore!! The doctors say the screws are well in place.. but something has to be causing it! If anyone has any suggestions they would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Well, it's simple enough to remove them and do the experiment! I would.

Re: major problems years after bunion surgery

I was thinking the same thing. But with two doctors saying it isn't the screws, I'm starting to doubt myself. I don't want to end up in more pain than I am now. I'm so sick of dealing with drugs and pains I'm considering just telling them to take my toe off in general

It very well may not be the screws but there is only one way to find out.

The decision is up to you.
