Bunion site still tender 8 wks. post op

I returned to work 4 days after surgery. Job requires lots of walking. Wore a soft boot for 6 weeks. Doc says bones have healed. 2 screws were installed. 8 wks post op scar and bunion site still very tender. Foot goes numb when wearing socks /sneakers. Foot is darker color than the other foot. Have intermittent numbness. What can I do to speed up healing? Need surgery on right foot. How long should I wait?

I had a bunion surgery back in March which also required 2 screws. When I was about 8 weeks post op I also had similar complaints. My toe was tender, I had some nerve tweaks and numbness, and my foot would turn a dark red/purple color if I stood for too long or didn't elevate it.
I think for me, physical therapy really helped a lot. My therapist also had me do scar massage, which can be pretty painful but very helpful afterwards.
It's not 100% but I do have a lot of movement back and it is far less painful.
Are you in physical therapy or planning to?

I would say if you can't even stand for an extended period without pain you might want to wait a while to do the next one. It is hard enough being restricted to one good foot!
