Hi! First of all id like to thank you for reading this far. I will start of with the basics: My name is Luke
I am a male
I am 14
What I want is for someone to give me a second opinion (my specialists are pretty stumped)
Now my story... It all began in year 4 when I was 9. The second and third toes on my right foot were sticking up and the third was crossing under the second (i was in extreme pain). My podiatrist diagnosed me with hammer toes even though it is only on the right foot. She tried strapping them to their neibouring toes but that didnt work so there in year four I had my first two operations. The first one was to cit 1 cm from both toes and then stick a wire out of the top of the toe. I spent the next 4 weeks in a wheelchair as the bone regrew and then I had the second operation where they had to remove the wire. After that operation: my toes were flat and in their normal positions but I cant move them from the middle joint and the third toes toenail has never grown back
. All was fine (except joint problem) until Year 7 where my toes started crossing again, sticking up, the third to had bone sticking out the side and my fourth to was bending so much it was excruciating so I had another operation which shaved the bone sticking out and cut the tendons in my fourth toe. I spent another four weeks in a wheelchair. Later on that year I was schedueled to have braces installed (?) and xrays showed that the right side of ny jaw was extremely damaged from something. After some blood tests , my rheumotologist diagnosed me with juvenile arthritis in the right jaw joint and some more blood tests and an mri of my jaw showed that it is not active and it hasnt fused. Ive been seeing my rheumotologist a couple of times a year and she came up with the possibility that arthritis caused my toes to deform not hammer toes. After two mri's of my right foot were inconclusive because my first operation destroyed any evidence of arthritis. Since then I have ocansianlly been taking prescribed medical steroids to aid in the pain in my jaw I feel when I play my bagpipes for peformances. Right now my medical life is pretty quiet but I have to go to a physio and also have some xrays of my jaw tommorow. My main concern is that my "bad" toes wont touch the ground unless I force them and its also starting to get painful to walk again. What should I do and what do you think of my situation?
