Surgery is scheduled for 9/25 (4 procedures, moved up from 10/3 by surprise!). I just feel like I'm scrambling to get everything done/ready. In addition to the craziness I'm having it done 6 hrs from home, so am arranging for friends to take vacation time to ferry me back and forth etc...and I couldn't be more grateful for their generosity.
I guess my question is are you ever really ready? Do you ever have everything set up at home? Or do you just do the best you can and then wing it?
And here's a stupid one but oh well...those of you who have spent a couple of nights in the hospital afterward...are you gowned the whole time or can you wear your own t shirts?
Thanks...I'm driving myself nuts!! P.S I quit smoking 6 wks ago in anticipation of this surgery and I think that's adding to my nuttiness and stress level.

Oh Ginger your post brings me back. Almost one month ago I was in your position. Anxious as hell. I dont think you can ever be 100% ready but you can be close. I spent about a month preparing and I did make it easier for myself and others for sure. I did spend two nights in the hospital and it didnt matter to me I wore the johnny. I was miserable and numb and very hung over from anesthesia and lots of meds. I dont think they would care if you wanted to wear your own stuff but I dont think you will end up caring either.

Thanks, Paula. I'm beginning to realize that stressing isn't helping anything. I've done all I can, I have a great surgeon and not sleeping at night is only hurting me. Just gotta leave it up to the Lord.
Ginger, it will be here before you know it. When I had pttd surgery, it was late in the day. I stayed in the hospital gown that night but wore my own clothes the next day. Many people do get out of the gowns if they are able and opt for their own clothes. Good luck with surgery.
