Hello to everyone ,this is my first time so please be patient with me ,now where do i start ,,i am so desperate to have some advice about my foot ,i have had quite a few operations on it ,mainly that my tendons were ready to rupture and the specialist i had did the operation ,his incompantants through lack of after operation care has caused so much more problems for my foot ,he never imobilised my foot after the operation and after 2 weeks told me to start putting weight on it ,then a week later told me to throw away the crutches ,whether he was joking or not i did what he said and have suffered now with other problems,From having to have my tendons put back behind my ankle as they kept restinging on top of my ankle, and so it all goes on and on,,with a few more accidents on my part due to balance ect,now my delemia is i had an MRI done last month and have seen a doctor and now hes treating me for nerve problems in my foot ,,i was so depressed about it all but am giving the tablets a go ,,so far it's been a week and nothing ,,i have my MRI Conclusion report if anyone can shed some light on what i can do or what doctor i can see ,although i have lost a lot od faith in that direction ,,,anyway here goes sorry this is so long ,,also i must stress my pain level is so high i have very strong pain killers and at times am in tears with how intense the pain is,,my report,,,There is marked abnormality of the peroneal tendons, maximal at the level of the tip of the lateral malleolous,.In fact,,this abnormality has been present on previous examinations although variably reported. There is marked scar tissue surrounding the peroneal tendon complex..marked tendinosis of the tendons and multiple longtiudinal tears affecting a long length of the peroneous longus tendinousis affecting the distal tibial is posterior tendon. There is probable chronic disruption of the calcaneofibular ligament ..Sorry for this being so long but if someone can explain this to me whether i need an operation or what ? thanks,,,,
I'm not qualified to tell you that you need surgery but I would definitely suggest seeing a foot and ankle specialist or orthopaedic surgeon. I wouldn't see the same one you saw before. Sounds like he/she was bad news. I wish you the very best and hope you're able to get some good answers. From what I read I see a lot of tendon issues but I am not a doctor.

Thankyou so much for your support, i am seeking to find a foot and ankle orthopedic doctor .It's so hard as dont have much confidience in doctors after all iv'e been through and the last orthopedic doctor that fused my toes kept saying to me he dosent mind it if i see another doctor ,He finally gave me the heave ho to see another doctor that i couldnt see untill January next year so i was left hanging again ,ive emailed a few myself and been told i should see foot and ankle doctor,i so dont have confidence in them ,and i really dont want to have to travel 3 hours to see one in Brisbane only to be told ,,oh sorry cant help and then the cost ,,sorry to go on but am so frustrated and am even thinking amputating if i cant be helped ,so sick of pain and painkillers.. cheers,,,
i would definitely get another dr and make it an ortho who specializes in the foot and ankle. in the meantime do you have a camwalker you can wear? it will help keep from damaging it any further. Cathy

Try contacting hospitals in your area and check their doctors listings. Do you have any university hospitals around you Don't give up. There are so many more options. A lot of universities are research hospitals and have excellent doctors and surgeons. Keep your head up!!

Hi! First I'm so sorry you are have gone through this and are still going through this. I'm not a doctor, but am in health care and have had peroneal tendon injuries and operations to fix them. It does sound like you have longitudinal tears (so imagine string cheese shredding instead of just tearing in half) and tendinosis is not a good thing either. It also sounds like your peroneal tendons are subluxing or popping in and out over the fibula. It also sounds like your calcaneofibular ligament (or CFL) is torn. Ligaments attach bone to bone and the CFL attaches your fibula (small leg bone that ends in the lateral malleolus) to your calcaneous (your heel bone). I have had longitudinal tears in my peroneal tendon (longus) and both my peroneal tendons were subluxing too and my CFL and ATFL were both torn. I had surgery to repair all that and a torn retinaculum on 2/22/12 and I'm doing a lot better. I'm not saying that you need surgery, but with all that messed up and the amount of pain you are in, I wouldn't be surprised if you did. I'm glad to hear you say that you are looking for a foot/ankle board certified orthopedic surgeon. You can call professional sports teams in your area and see who they use too! Hang in there!!! Vent here all you need to!
Hi,, thankyou so much for all your helpful imformation ,,i honestly am starting to believe maybe it's all in my mind although my pain at the moment is 9 out of 10,,so more pain killers anyway im still looking for a good surgeon ,i do get very frustrated looking ,.I hope that all goes well for you and that you heal as quick as possible ,theres times at home that even putting my feet to the ground is sheer murder so i give my wheechair a workout or my crutches .Sounds like im a big baby but you yourself know where im coming from ,so yes i will keep looking and will also track down a sports medicene for doctors too ,,have a great evening ,,cheers,,julie
Hang in there Julie! You're going to find the right person to take care of you. I can't imagine being in that severe pain. I had pain that was bad but never was a 9 or 10 even after surgery. Have you had any luck looking for someone today? When you find your new doctor, make sure you take your MRI report with you as well as a cd of the MRI if they gave you one. If they didn't you should be able to ask for a copy of the MRI itself for the doctor to view personally. Everything is going to be okay.
