I can't even imagine Animal. It's a shame you didn't find out until you were already there giving blood and stuff. You will be 6 days before me now for your surgery. I have 33 days and counting. Ugh it is driving me batty! Take care!

I know what you mean, my friends keep saying well at least you will have Christmas now without being restricted, but the wait seems further away now!
Really not dealing well, am hoping for a cancellation, but again because of Christmas holidays I think the chance of that are quite slim.
One thing I was going to ask? When they were telling me that I was having a calcaneal osteotomy and Achilles lengthing and posterior tibial and then something like gastronic ???
Any one got any ideas?
Feeling really low after being sent home, can't seem to shake it off. The timing seemed perfect and now with my new date on Jan 10th it's going to mean no one will be home with for the entire time.
Really fed up!

I can't blame you for feeling so bad. It's bad enough to be facing this rough surgery, but I can't imagine going thru surgery and recovery without my husband's help and support. after the first few days, I could have been left alone, but until pain was at a manageable level, I don't know how I could have done it. of course, we all do what has to be done, right? I'm sorry things turned out this way for you. Are you staying in the hospital a few days post surgery? Hoping you get your date moved up to very soon!! jeanne
Hey Animal, I am SO sorry you're having such a rough time. I think the feelings you're having are totally normal, considering what happened. Honestly, if you don't feel as though you're not mentally up to the surgery you might want to cancel. The fact that you were mentally ready prior to your dr being sick, only makes the disappointment of having surgery delayed harder. you, like the rest of us, we're looking forward to being on the road to recovery. Since there's a bad virus going around, there may be a cancellation. Take care,,,,,,,,jeanne

Animal, I'm having the same kind of weekend only you have a much better excuse. I came home from the hospital the day after surgery and was by myself from day one. It's not ideal but it can be done. The situation you're in stinks, so give yourself some time to wallow. Then you just have to pull yourself out of it. Attitude is so important in this recovery...don't give up. You've come this far, don't let a couple of weeks get to you. We are all here for you.

Ok I am done wallowing, lol. In fairness it is very difficult to be sad at school, as the children always make me smile.
It will be nice to have Christmas without being in a cast, and it will be comforting to actually have my surgeon do the op. I have received the letter confirming the new date of Jan 10th, 3 weeks to go, time to build myself up to it again! And another positive, I get to go on the works night out on Friday, although this could get messy ha ha.
How are you all doing??

Hi Animal! Congrats on your new surgery date. I'm so sorry your surgery was postponed, but glad you're feeling better now that you have a confirmed date. Time will fly by, as you have the holidays to look forward to and to keep your mind busy. You're lucky to be able to work with the kids all day. My dtr and son-in-law both teach their kids keep them on their toes! Glad your dr will be able to do your surgery, I know that alleviates a lot of anxiety for you. I'm doing much better, 9 days post surgery. Went to dr for post op appt tues, got rid of the bulky surgical splint/dressing and now have a cast to the knee. Go back on th 27th for suture removal and another cast. He still wants me NWB, foot elevated all day till then. Pain is almost non-existent as long as it's elevated. Been able to sleep in my own bed since Monday will pillows to elevate, and have been getting good rest. Have fun Friday nite!
