9 months post PTTD surgery

I had fdl tendon transfer and calcaneal osteotomy w/2 pins that are staying in April. I wanted to see how others are doing at this stage.

I am doing fairly well. the limping is minimal and my stride is getting much better. The outside of my ankle where the osteotomy was done is still swollen, there are days when I have no pain and other days it is more annoying than pain. I really think I can feel the pins in my heel at times. it does not hurt, just feels weird.

I am still doing my at home PT excersises (i do forget for a few days but the stiffness reminds me to get on track). I don't think the winter cold and walking in the snow is helping too much.

Overall I feel I am doing good. I still have my down days but remind myself that the magic number is one year for healing. I hope everyone is doing well.

Re: 9 months post PTTD surgery

Hi,

My surgery was in June. I also think I can feel the pin in my foot. I thought I was the only one. I went back to my surgeon Friday, and I will get surgery again in a couple of months. Take care!

Ha, I thought I was alone with that as well. If I might ask, why surgery again? Are you having the pins taken out? Mine are being left in. Hope all goes well for you.

Re: 9 months post PTTD surgery

I'm getting ready to have an FDL transfer(he might break and reset my heel but we won't know till he goes in) on feb 28th, I'm kinda nervous as this will be biggest out of the two I have had. How was recovery for this? How was your pain? I'm glad to hear your doing well. Its nice to hear others are doing well and healing. I'm really hoping this one works for me, my poor foot can't take anymore. Keep us posted and I hope for pain free days for all of us

Re: 9 months post PTTD surgery

I just had this surgery 6 weeks ago - can't wait to say I'm 9 months out! Good to hear you're doing fairly well. Feeling the screws in my heel kinda freaks me out, but since I'm still NWB for another couple of days I have no idea if I'll be able to or not!
