PTT Transfer -- Positive news

Last week, my surgeon encouraged me to start wiggling and flexing my toes in my cast.

So when I try to lift my toes using traditional thinking, I can curl them down but not up. It was very frustruating.

Today, I consciously thought: pull foot inward using PTT. Wait for it -- YES!! I can flex my entire front foot including my toes upward! I haven't been able to do this in years! Wow -- this is very exciting for me!!!

I should add for the record, my PTT was transfered to the top of my foot, drilled through bone (3rd cuniform I think?), then anchored on the bottom to help with foot drop.

Re: PTT Transfer -- Positive news

I love all the accomplishments that people who haven't been through this just don't get. This is such a long road and knowing there are these accomplishments along the way make it so much easier to get through. When I tell my husband something new I can do he tries to be excited for me but I can tell he just doesn't really get how great it is!

I think it is difficult for someone to understand if they haven't been in our situation. That's why these threads are so helpful, because we understand each other.

Re: PTT Transfer -- Positive news

Power out here . So far one foot of snow, expecting 3. Generator going strong . Installed after Sandy. Best thing we ever did! Hope you are all well. Didn't want to be without power in this condition. One thing to be recovering, but no heat? No way!

Re: PTT Transfer -- Positive news

Generators can be a life saver when the power goes out. Glad to hear you are able to keep warm. I heard CT and MA were going to get hit hard. I'm upstate NY and it looks like we are only going to get a few inches. I wish it were more. Our local economy depends on snowmobilers and ice fishing although my preference is a nice fire in a warm house.
