Brostrum Gould Non Weight Bearing Rehabilitation

Hi all

I had my surgery 2 days ago and am in a plaster cast, This is my first surgery and I have found the other posts relating to this procedure most helpful. My concern is that I'm non weight bearing and I've knocked my cast a couple of times and don't know if this is something I should be worried about? I have little pain so far, just the bottom of the cast pressing into my foot. It seems like the cast is trying to tip my foot up to reduce the pressure on the lateral ligament, and this is resulting in the cast digging in. One the scale of 1 to 10, I'd say I'm about a 2 a the minute.

Can anyone put my mind at rest?

Re: Brostrum Gould Non Weight Bearing Rehabilitation

Hi there!! I slipped and landed a couple of times on my foot and was worried and my OS said that I only needed to be worried if I cracked the plaster or was in very severe pain.........so, don't stress - I am sure you are fine

It should be okay. I had a hard time being careful and I bumped it quite a bit. The cast was quite protective and I never did any damage.

As long as you don't break it you should be good!

Re: Brostrum Gould Non Weight Bearing Rehabilitation

A quick update should anyone else knock their foot while non weight bearing.

I saw the surgeon yesterday and the wound has healed nicely. No issues arose as a result of the impact I suffered. I am now in an aircast fully weight bearing, but taking it easy.
