Quickie check in-4week post op - Foot Problems Message Board

For those who haven't memorised my foot details..

...I am now just over 4 weeks postop, left foot Austin Bunionectomy, one permanent screw.
I was able to start wearing Reeboks a few days ago and saw my Dr today for check up and xrays. Everything is great. He wants the toe to bend down more, so I have to keep working on that. And of course it's still somewhat swollen.
This foot is healing much faster than my right and for that I'm very grateful. I feel so bad for those of you who have healing difficulties.
My surgeon is a podiatrist and I couldn't be happier with his skill. I know there are some/many who don't think this surgery should be done by a podiatrist, but it IS possible to get good results. I'm not saying EVERY podiatrist is qualified, just that it is possible.
I go back to work tomorrow and I know that going back to work this time will be easier than it was with my right foot.
I'm not exactly happy to be going back to work, but I'm happy that I'm well enough to do it.

Time for bed now...I have to get up and go to work tomorrow. LOL.

Great news!! It is good to hear you are doing well.

I too had my surgery done by a podiatrist and great results. I work in a health care facility and I asked the ortho surgeon there about my foot while I answer some computer questions for him and he thought the solution for my problem would have been to fuse the toe. Kind of a limited range of solutions, when I told him what my podiatrist did he seemed rather surprised by the procedure. I tend to think there is good and bad in both catagories. The Dr that did my foot does a lot of them and really seems to know what he is doing.

Ah yes, the range of motion deal. I hate yanking on my toe to get it to move up and down but the more I do it the easier it is to loosen it up. The AM is the worst, ouch. But it is really getting there
