Bump on Side of Foot - Foot Problems Message Board

I have this protrusion on the side of my foot right where the little toe joins to the foot. My rheumatologist ran some x-rays and said that everything was o.k. - there wasn't any bone erosion or dislocation. The area can be warm and is sometimes painful.

Does anyone have any idea what it could be?

bunions can be on the outside of the foot as well as the inside by the big toe.

Could it be a bunionette, or tailor's bunion as they call it? I'd recommend you see a podiatrist.

Wouldn't a bunionette show up on an x-ray? My x-ray was fine.

Yes a bunionette would show on an x-ray, but is that what your Dr. was looking for. There is a difference between no bone erosion or dislocation. Does the protrusion feel like a bone? Is it hard or soft?
