I am confused and trying not to be angry. I had major ankle surgery this summer after going to the doctor because of foot pain. On the MRI, they saw that I had chronic lateral ankle instability and recommended reconstructive surgery. I had the surgery on July 6th, was nwb for 6 weeks, then gradually returned to weight bearing.
I have also developed a torn Miniscus and a Bakers Cyst on my left knee from limping onto that leg for the last 6 months.
The exact same foot pain has returned since going full weight bearing!
Now they are recommending orthotics because I "walk on the outsides of my feet" and have really high arches. So my question is (well one of my questions) was the problem the ankle or walking on the outsides of my feet and having high arches.
I am really wondering if the surgery had anything whatsoever to do with the foot pain I was having or if it was totally unrelated. This surgery has caused me to miss 3 months of work and I will probably have to change careers because I don't know when I'll be able to be on my feet for 12 - 14 hours at a time. I am (was?) an athlete that played hockey, coached hockey, played golf, softball, biking etc etc.
I'm ranting and probably not making sense, but I am so frustrated that the exact same pain that I had surgery for is back that I could just cry. (OK, I've done that already.... a lot.)
