I had the surgery in April and have lost the feeling in my 2nd and 3rd toes. I was told that its permanent since the nerve that branches into those two toes was completly severed. My neuroma was very large so I did lose a large portion of the nerve. The Dr. told my husband right after the surgery that he had never seen one that large. I guess that was my fault for letting it go that long.
Also If anyone is comtemplating the surgery make sure to ask your Dr. what he does with the severed ends of the nerve. I've heard they should be tucked inside the muscle to lessen the chances for a stump neuroma occuring.
