I had a bunionectomy with a pin put in place to hold it together. The first week was painful, but my foot looked great. I went to the doc at week two and he said I could use a cane to get around. I ended up at the E.R. 5 days later with my foot swollen and very painful. The X-rays showed a fracture to the surgery site. I went to the doc who did my surgery 2 days later and he put a cast on my foot so I could be 100% non-weight bearing for at least 3 or 4 more weeks. He said "somehow I did something to make the procedure fracture and that the bone should mend by growing back." Has anyone heard of such a thing? I am so confused !
