Hello, everyone. There are many different posts here, on different foot problems. I have high arches; and tendonitis in my left foot. Does anyone else have this problem? I am wondering if you were able to correct it without surgery...My left heel has been killing me for months now; and I get few responses when I post on this board. Maybe tendonitis seems too simple a problem...but it really has made walking hard for me. Does anyone have any ideas/suggestions as to HOW to make my foot feel better? I hope someone will respond. Deby
I have tendonitis pretty much everywhere in my ankle from the high arches. I have it in the posterior tibial tendon, achilles and peroneals.. I am having surgery though because my heel doesn't really touch the ground and the pain is horrible that its hard to walk.. Night splints are supposed to be useful, along w/PT to stretch the tendons.
I had peroneal tendonitis in my left ankle. The best thing is to catch it early and use ice and rest. I had surgery the beginning of November to debrid the tendon and will start PT on the 28th of this month. Ice, and rest. Good Luck.
I'm having the same problem but i have extremly flat feet with tight tendons and tight muscles. The doctor also wants to do surgery. for the past week it has been extremly difficult to walk I can't put any pressure on my heel at all. I've been resting and icing but nothing is helping my pain. I'm debating whether I should go to the emergeny room but I hate hospitals. I'm going for a second opinion on 12/30/04 with an orthopedist that specializes in feet i saw my podiatrist two days ago. If I do the surgery it will probably help my arthritis and my plantar facisitis due to my flat feet.
wubbogirl - the emergency room won't really do that much for you, except they may be able to give you something for the pain. I started with the orthopedic surgeon and he sent me to a foot and ankle specialist. What does the doctor want to do surgery on? Make sure to ask lots of questions. Have they given you any anti-inflammatories to take?
My Walking boot with the rocker bottom has made SUCH a difference. When I started wearing it, I couldn't walk 3 minutes without really wanting to cry. Now, I don't use crutches and am walking well.
they probably will put me in a cast. I go for my next appt next thursday and they will schedule the surgery then. The tendonitis is a little better but if I stand or walk for long periods its gets to be painful. My friends at work think its strange that I ice my legs before i go to bed. I'm basically do anything to relieve my pain.
I have extremly high arches and have problems with both tendons on each foot. I have had the cortizol shots but they never last. I have also purchased the orthodics that go in your shoes and I think they are helping. MY dr. told me it was like carpeltunnel syndrom in your feet. I use lots of ice and where and ankel brace when I work out. I have begun to do small anklw exercises to try and strenthen my whole ankle area. It has gotten better over time with the ice, heat and braces. Any more suggestions?

HI deby,
I use to suffer from tendonitis. I have really flat feet and suffered with tendonitis in both feet but had if worse in my left one. I did a number of different things to help. I used othodics, went to physiotherapy and while I was going to physiotherapy I slowed down my physical activity, ice, my doctor mentioned a type of brace or splint to sleep with at night but I never ended up needing it. It seems to me that if you focus on making it better it can work. I would strongly suggest physio, they will give you certain excersices to do at home and they really know how to stretghen to feet. It feels really good too! Anyway I hope this helps you. Keep us posted with what goes on. Good Luck. Kristy.
