I have posted about a fusion a couple of times and I was wondering if anyone else had problems with tissue breaking down. I had surgery and a week later another one at the same sight. Now I have an inscion that looks awful because there are open areas on it from where the tissue broke down.
Has anyone had to deal with this? Did it heal well? How long did it take to start to improve???????

I read about your open incision in your other post - I can't imagine. How are you suppose to care for it? Has your Dr. given you any instructions? I also wonder what kind of scar is that going to leave behind. When my toe was fused the incision was on top of the incision six month previously for a bunionectomy. It is taking longer for this scar to fade and is more noticable. I keep hoping in time it will fade more.
I wish you the best in healing! -eko

I had a similar problem a few times, one incision has been open twcie, another 4 times now. I got an infection because it wasn't kept clean enough. Make sure to keep it SUPER clean. Mine took about 6 weeks to close and I got an abscess last time, even w/o the infection. Just keep an eye on it! Good luck. Better safe than sorry!
Mr DR gave us a cream to use everyday when we change the dressing and then antibiotics. It is so ugly but at least it will heal. Did you have any streaking...like on your leg when you have a spider vien? That concerned me because I don't know what is normal and what is not.

The only time i ever had streaking was when I got a DVT, I have been told its a sign of infection too though. Can you call your dr? I hope your healing speeds up!
Stephanie,
How are you doing? I know you went through so much with surgeries and infections.I have not seen you on here in some time so I'm assuming you are doing better?
