| tibial nerve problems
Hi Everyone-
I had surgery on Jan 3rd for a FHL release, bone spur removal and os trigonum excision. I saw the doc today for my post op visit and finally got the bandage and such off. I have been weight bearing since about 8 or 9 days post op and now I am supposed to progress out of the boot for 2 weeks. I am able to walk around the apartment with out the boot on, but I noticed when the wrap came off at the docs office that my heel was numb. The docs said that the tibial nerve runs right next to the FHL and during surgery they had to retract the nerve to get at the FHL with out damaging it. Both the doc and the fellow were not extremely surprised that this occurred. Has anyone else had this problem and if so, how long did it take to go away, if at all. I am hoping and assuming this is temp but it sure is annoying trying to retrain yourself to walk again when you can't feel the first part of your step. Thanks so much.
