Red face A scooter ran over my toe!

Oh.

My.

God.

First, let me say that I'm FINE - but here's the story: my fiance & his sister are making a short film - to apply for a grant to make a better short film - and I had a part in it. We were on the streets of Manhattan yesterday morning, on the sidewalk in Chelsea. The shot we were getting at the time was a close-up on my hand holding a hot cup of coffee, with no lid on it; always a danger in NYC.

So, I'm holding the cup, (meanwhile I had my compression sock on my foot, then a little sock and my sneaker) and I'm only a foot away from the camera -Mike (fiance) and I were standing basically right next to each other, as if we were having a conversation. We were on the sidewalk, but people film all the time, and believe me, this was a tiny operation, no big deal either for us to move, or for people to walk two feet out of their way. All of a sudden, this scooter comes out of nowhere - and he/it was unusually low to the ground - we didn't even see him until he was right in between us. No "excuse me", nothing, and he couldn't go around? When you see two people talking on the street (let alone filming something, or taking a picture) do you walk between them?

I'm standing there with a scalding cup of coffee, with no lid on it, my bad foot is in front of my good foot (mistake!) and here comes this guy. Once we noticed him, he didn't stop - he ran OVER MY TOE. My bunionectomied toe, and Mike's foot (Mike's normal foot). I spilled some of the coffee, though none on this scooter-man, unfortunately. We were just in such a state of shock, that we couldn't speak - standing there with our mouths open that a person could even think to be that rude. If he couldn't get by (though there was plenty of room), couldn't he have stopped and/or said excuse me? By the time he was about 6 or 7 feet away, I yelled, "he ran over my TOE!!!!!" - Mike's sister ran to get the ice packs from her apartment, and I couldn't tell whether I was in pain or just in shock that of all the streets, of all the toes, he had to run over the one toe in NYC that had been so well taken care of for the past three months!

Mike started to run after him - I thought he was going to capsize his scooter, but I stopped him. We really dodged a bullet. He ran over my toenail - right in front of the toe joint, but not the joint itself - can you believe? A half-inch more, and I would've been in deep doodoo. I could move it right away, and here we are more than 24 hours later and no change. I haven't even called the doctor yet (way out of character for me, I know!), but I will this afternoon.

I still can't believe that happened.

So......how are all of you?

ps-we're doing the right foot May 20.

RUDE, RUDE, RUDE!! so glad your okay, and too bad the coffee didn't spill on him... would have been a good leason.

After reading your post, poor rollargirl's post & now Lou's close call... I am going to bed and doing nothing for the rest of the day!

I did go to the office a few hours, and I am now home, ready for ice! Take it easy girls!
