Re: 19 days in this house, NOW I AM LAZY

OMG, I did that too and boy does that smart!!!!!! UGH, im so mad. I visited another thread and this girl wanted to know about how long to expect for healing from a austin bunionectomy. So I told her about 6-8 weeks depending on the severity and procedure. Well, someone snapped back at me about not having a medical degree and for her to listen to her DR. HOW RUDE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am 14 weeks post op and I DON"T NEED A MEDICAL DEGREE to tell someone what and how long the healing process is!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sorry, had to vent!

Re: 19 days in this house, NOW I AM LAZY

Sharon--let the person listen to their doc. They are in for a surprise and will be back whining about why they aren't healed yet. No, we aren't docs but have first hand experience and that is much more valuable. I love your advice--keep dishing it out. Yes, I'm feeling lazy now too but I have to start working from home and I don't want to. Its 9 a.m. and I'm still talking to your guys--much more fun. Sigh, I should have gone on disability. I will be working from the sofa with my foot up but what about my naps and reading????

Re: 19 days in this house, NOW I AM LAZY

Get a grip Sharon.

just becuase your surgery wash horrible doesn't mean they all are. To me it sounds like you are scaring the crap out of these people.

If I had my surgery after you and heard all the negative things you had to say, I never would have had it done. And that would have been a horrible mistake. I am so greatful at how well I healed, and how quickly I was back to normal life. I am thrilled that I have no pain.

I am so glad I didn't baby myself too much, My recovery was easy, I was only on pain meds for 3 days, the pain was bad, at first, but by the second day, it was bearable, after a week, hardly any pain.

From my understanding, most people who have gone to my doctor have had very similar results, and not had the horror story being told here.

So, inconclusion, let these people listen to their doctors, and while they can take your experience into consideration, yours is not the only one, or the only "correct" opinion. Stop trying to belittle me and my surgery/healing time.

Mine was easy, yours wasn't, get over it, and stop telling these people that yousr is the way theirs is going to be.

Re: 19 days in this house, NOW I AM LAZY

this is total thread hijack

Let's talk about how crappy we feel when we're cooped up in the house because due to our specific surgeries, we can't run around outside and doing the things we're used to doing. Wasn't that the point of this thread in the first place?

I think telling someone they'll be up and walking in two weeks (not that you did, so don't flip out on ME) is WORSE than telling them they might not be up for 6-8. If the doc tells them they can walk at two weeks, then isn't it a lovely surprise?

Sharon wasn't saying hers is the only "correct" opinion, or even that her surgery was horrible - I'm pretty sure hers wasn't! Mine wasn't horrible either, just more intricate, which is why I'm still in physical therapy with 40 degrees of ROM bending my toe back, and just 5 degrees curling it. You know what? It hurts when I curl it. I can't stand on just one toe yet. I have swelling. Should I get a grip? I'm only telling the truth. I'm not a baby, but I'm not about to cause stress fractures from overuse.

If your doctor tells you before he cuts you open that you will be up and about in a week, go ahead and do it - more power to you! Even more to your doctor. Mine couldn't make any promises like that, because he had to wait and see what it actually looked like once he got inside my foot. How can anyone possibly know what they'll encounter before they've made the incision? Don't you realize it's all just a guess until they actually operate?

Get a grip yourself, and don't talk to anyone that way here again. At least not without a spellcheck.
