Just want an answer, please help - Foot Problems Message Board

I had an austin bunionectomy the second week of June. Everything where the surgery was done is doing excellent. My stitches were pulled last week and when the doctor gets back he is pulling the pin (the kind that sticks out and lays againt the foot) The problem is the center and other side of my foot the pain is severe to this day, the bruising was bad and it was bright red, not infected. (but took very strong penn. just in case) below my other toes are painful and under my foot..it's like no one can figure out whats wrong, just that its unusual...its been 25 days and it hurts bad..but not the surgery site. in researching sites in hopes of getting an answer, i ran across RSD...could this be a possibility...i just can't do this anymore i'm tired of all the xrays please help

Did the Doctor say anything about RSD?

No the Dr has not said that it was RSD, but was very confused at the symptoms and was not sure at the time what it was. she first thought it was an infection, but the area was not even warm. But i was given an up'ed dosage of Penn. (augmenten). she thought it was very odd that that area was so affected let alone still this long after surgery yet the surgery site was beautiful. She just told me to contact her backup if there was a problem while she was gone. and that she would tell her about the situation. I ended up calling and was sent for another xray, she thought maybe something within the foot broke upon adjusting the bone...but nothing showed....This is crazy what is causing this pain....there...I had the same surgery on the other side of my foot and did not experience this...I know every surgery is different...but when it confuses the 2 dr.s...that's why i was looking for an answer.

ok, now my foot on opposite side of surgery (same foot) is turning darkish purple and cold it seems to be coming up the lower front of my leg...occasional pins and needles....i really just give up...not sure what to do even leg is feeling very cold to touch.

You need to find a new Dr.It sounds to me that it could be RSD.Just my opinion.I have been tested for RSD and Im boarder line.Does your foot/leg hurt when you touch it,like a burning feeling?If it's not RSD it sounds like it could be something else that your Dr should be concerned about.You have to keep pushing them but you need to find out what is going on.Especialy since it is now traveling up your leg.Good luck,
