Surgery on Same Foot!!! - Foot Problems Message Board

Has anyone had to have more than one surgery on the same foot?? I could have avoided this if I had taken my doctor's recommendation!

My story is, on June 17th I went in to have a bone spur removed in little toe, and bunion removed. The bone spur was extremely painful, the bunion was not painful at all. The day before the surgery, I surfed the internet and read that if your bunion causes no pain leave it alone.

On the morning of the surgery, I presented this info to the doctor, and he said if you are not completely comfortable with this, "let's not do it". Not the response I expected!

Well here I am now with a second toe sticking up because the bunion is still there.

So back to my question, has anyone had surgery on the same foot, and how long did you wait in between surgeries? I feel so stupid!

I had 5 surgeries on my left foot..............years apart except the last 2, they were only one week apart. Good luck to you..............dont feel stupid...........things happen!!!!!

Thanks dlh, how is your foot now? Did having surgeries 2 week a part on same foot cause any added problems?

I have had 5 surgeries on one foot in a year and a half and 2 surgeries on my other foot within the same year and a half.

The only problem it caused was severe tissue breakdown which ended up being a nasty open wound.............he went through the same inscion to take out faulty hardware and replace it...........thats why I had it done. BUT the wound healed and although the scar is big its all OK now. I have alot of scar tissue now that I try to massage everyday to help it breakdown a bit but considering what my foot has been through it is good...........it looks prerry normal and I actually have more function with a fused joint then I did before! LOL! Sue has had ALOT of surgery too...............it's really not uncommon to have multiple surgeries on the same foot........just read these boards!!!!!!!!
