Well I went to my new Podiatrist today(instead of Monday long story)and he actually took x-rays(my previous dr. didn't)anyway he said I do not have haglund's deformity but I do have two heel spurs. One on the bottom which I have no problems with and the other at the back of the heel. I also have achilles tendonitis still, so he is putting me on oral anti-inflamatory(previous dr. said I could not take because of acid reflux. I take Prevacid)anyway he said I could and started me on Celebrex and also back to the cam walker I go gor 4 more weeks. Oh, and the lump on the side of the heel he says is the achilles where it attaches I guess to the heel.How does this sound?

Well, at least you have gotten x-rays and he is treating you for the tendonitis. I have been on anti-inflamatories before and I have acid refluxe and had no problems. The bone spur on the back of the heal have been known to be troublesome, especially if the achilles tendon lies over it. To have those bone spurs removed is a difficult process because of the achilles tendon and has a long recovery. Give it the four weeks he has called for and see how it goes. If it is not getitng better then ask lots of questions and ask about an MRI.

What would an MRI show that the x-ray did not show? Has anyone heard of the black boot for achilles tendonitis? My dr. said I had swelling not only on the back of the heel, but also a little up the back of the leg.

A MRI will show tendon, muscle and tissue damage where an x-ray will not. I had blown a tendon in my ankle that was not confirmed until I had a MRI because it would not show on a x-ray.

The CAM walker will just provide additional support for your ankle and leg and give the achilles tendon a rest while the inflamation goes down. Next time you see the Dr. ask if the bone spur antagonizes the tendonitis.
