| Re: Reverdin-Laud-Green Ostectomy
Hello! I've not had the one you're having, but did have chevron osteotomies/bunionectomies when I was 19 and 20 (both feet - one year apart). If the procedure is similar, I would *think* the recovery might be similar.
Back then (1981-2), this was done as in-patient procedure, and I was in hospital for 3 days each time. I was non-weight-bearing for about a week, then was allowed to step on foot, in walking-cast. The pain was bad for about the first 3 days or so, then after that it started feeling better pretty quickly (if I remember right!) I was given Tylenol #3s that I probably used for maybe the first week or so. I was in the cast for 6 weeks (I think?). I do remember having more pain again after the cast came off, but that decreased fairly quickly - within a couple weeks, I think, it felt pretty normal.
Of course, NOW, they probably do this as an out-patient procedure, as my recent foot surgery was much more involved than this one, and IT was done out-patient (I was really surprised!).
Hopefully someone else will come along that had the exact same procedure as you will. When is your surgery?
I hope you get great results!
