Podiatrist Recommendation in Houston Area? - Foot Problems Message Board

Hello,
I need a 2nd opinion from a podiatrist about my bunions/surgery. I live in Kingwood, just north of Houston. Any recommendations from people who have had bunionectomies and loved their pod/surgeon? In particular, I am terrified of the pain . . . I have a really high tolerance to meds of all kinds, and pain meds are no exception. I want a great surgeon with lots of experience, and it's also important to me that they are willing to give patients the pain meds they need, and are available 24/7 to change/increase scripts if necessary. I'll drive into Houston for the right doc, but someone in Kingwood or Humble would be fantastic!

I cannot recommend a doctor for you, but I can tell you that if the right doctor does a good surgery, you should have little pain. I had an osteotomy with 2 screws, and a fibroma and part of my plantar fascia removed 8 weeks ago, and only had to take Tyenol 3 for 1 1/2 days. Sure, some days it's pretty tired and sore, but nothing I can't deal with. I still have a 1/2 bottle of my pills. I agree you should find the best docrto you can, but the pain may not be as much as you're anticipating. The BIG deal is to go slow and do what your doctor and your foot tell you. Better slow and steady, that's wha I figure. Kim

Call the Rockets and the Texans front offices and ask who they use for this. They'll have the best docs working on their folks. Good luck....
