For a couple of months now I get a pain in the top of my left foot as soon as I get out of bed in the morning. Doesn't really hurt when there is no weight on it. There is no visable swelling.
The pain is right in the top, not the ankle, not the toe, just right on that sort of ridge in between. Stretching it around seems to ease it up a bit.
Some days it is worse then others, but it doesn't seem to have any connection to the amount of physical activity the previous day. Some times (like right now) I feel a kind of discomfort in the same spot while sitting at work. Taking my shoe off takes it away.
Same problem here in the left foot. I get a burning pain also. I was diagnosed with plantar facitis and heel spurs but they said it should not casue the top of the foot to hurt. I did tear the ligiments in that foot some years ago and the doc saw a bone spur on the side of my foot and some arthritis where the foot hurts. Did they do xrays. The morning is when the foot ususally hurts or after alot of activity. I was sleeping on my stomach and that aggravated it alot. Let me know. Carol
Thanks for responding nccarol. I haven't had it looked at or x-rayed. I don't sleep on my stomach, just my back or side. I wonder if my sleeping position could be a factor. Hmmmm.
I wonder what a specialist would say about it. Am I willing to pay to find out? Not just yet. I have a feeling I would walk out with a bill, a pain perscription, and maaaybe some idea of the cause.
If I did tear something I have no idea when or how. I am sporadically active in various sports etc so I guess I could have torn something sometime. No idea when if that is what happened.
I skateboarded a lot when I was younger and Yoga always helped me recover much faster from slams, when I did it. Tumeric is also awesome for bruise, bone, and joint stuff too. I think I'll get on those two things and see if it helps any. (You have to take a lot of tumeric).
I would love to hear what anyone elses' experiences have been with weird foot pain like this.
The tops of both of me feet hurt quite often and the pain description you gave sounds very similar to mine. I am not going to be a lot of help because I have not been to a foot doctor about mine either. However my family doctor and two of my friends have both said that it sounds a lot like arthritis. I have been told to take motrin or another similar drug when it is bad and it does seem to help a little bit. I am not one to go to the doctor unless I am "on my death bed" though so it may be awhile before I find out for sure what it is. Yours does sound like mine though and that is what I have been told.
Wow, arthritis?!! Can I ask how old you are? I really don't know anything about arthritis but I'm 34, seems a little young for that.
Thanks for sharing. I hope we can get someone to respond who has been to a doctor.
A guy at work has arthritis, his joints used to kill him all the time until he started drinking "Yogi Tea Joint Comfort" like 4 times a day or something. He is quite happy.
