Has anyone had fluid in foot after surgery? - Foot Problems Message Board

I had surgery in early April to revise a non union of my midfoot fusion. When my os spoke to me after surgery, he said there was fluid around the joint. He thought it was either my body rejecting the hardware or simply a reaction to the non union. Although my foot feels pretty good this time, I am noticing a pocket of fluid in the area around the surgery. Has anyone had this type of reaction to surgery or to hardware???

Diane,
I had fluid in several areas prior to the surgery, presumably a response to the injuries. I also had quite a bit post-op, though much less now. I don't know about hardware rejection, as I (thankfully) haven't experienced that, but it makes sense. Keep your eye on it. When is your next visit? I remember you in prayer, and hope this is a response to the trauma of the op. Take care, and keep posting!
