bunion screws? - Foot Problems Message Board

hi
i had a operation on my bunions last year, i had the bones in both feet broken and reset, after my op, i was chatting to a woman who had a bunion op, and she said she has a screw in her toe, she let me feel it (i thought she was joking) her bunions have gone completely, mine are back!!!

if i was to have these screws put in will they come back? im only 25, im in pain most days, i find it hard to find shoes that dont rub on my feet, ill try anything as i have had them for 11 years in total. I wont get my feet out in public and id love to walk along the beach bare foot without looking at my ugly feet.
Also i have noticed my little toes and the toe next to the little onebends inwards, can they screw your little toes too?
sorry if this message sounds really silly, but i dont know anything really about Bunions and treatment for them, all i know is they are painful and my last operation was a waste of time!

When you had your surgery, did they use the dissolving pins, or external pins, or anything to anchor while you healed? Nobody can "guarantee" you will not get recurrences, but most of the people here who have had surgery have had some type of anchor, and most are intact. Some have to have the "permanent" screws removed, but a year later, so the healing is good by then. See an os or podiatrist, and discuss your options. I wish you better luck this time around! Kim
