On another thread it was mentioned that someones foot doc said not to wear Crocs. I find them extremely comfortable and wear them a lot, in fact, before surgery that is all I could wear. My foot doc said they are actually very good for your feet. What have you heard from your doc about shoes? I used to wear Birks but I wore a new pair, got PF and here I am after surgery. Go figure.

I've heard the same about Birkenstocks because of the negative heel. I'm of the opinion that you wear what's comfortable. Compared to lots of other shoe options out there, how bad can a Croc be?

It was my doc that had said no crocs. He said they have no support and would give me more problems than I had (as if that was possible). Like you, they were the only shoes that I could wear before the surgery, and the only thing I could put my foot in after. (ok,it was 5 months after last surgery, but a girls got to start somewhere) Doc recommended Merrells, bojrn, and a couple others. He recommended a big dept store where they cost a fortune. Someone on the board suggested DSW. I found both types there, and I will admit they feel good. I got the Merrell mules and they are very very comfortable. they do have a lot of support. some of the styles were kinda ugly, but these are nice to look at and to wear. They run about $60. They are nice enough to look good with jeans when you go out. I got the tan, but they do have them in black also. In truth, after walking in them for about an hour, they do feel better on my feet than the crocs do. For what it's worth, when they did the last surgery, doc cut from the top of my foot, thru the last two toes, and down about halfway thru the bottom of the foot. he then removed all the flesh that was there. So it's hard to wear anything because of all the scars top and bottom. Give merrells, borje a tryand see how you like them. hopefully, they will work as well for you as they have for me. (haven't been able to wear regular shoes, only mules.)

I've never tried crocs but they are the only thing my podiatrist wears. Her entire staff wears them, too.

I am in foot h*** right now. No matter what I do I can't win. You throw everything else in there with that (arthritis and back fusion) and then my stupid feet I feel like I am falling apart!! I am 29 and feel AND LOOK 90 when I get up from the couch or bed. When my feet drop that shortens that stupid tendon and then I hobble around. I do all the stretches I am supposed to do and nothing helps. I tried birkies, that made my heel pain horrible, tennis shoes-horrible, crocs, bearable. Where I work that is the style-but I won't wear them out otherwise.
I don't know what to do-It HURTS

Any thoughts?
I am thinking about buying some podus boots to sleep in-they keep your feet and ankle at 90 degrees-like you were standing up to keep that tendon from dropping. I also have see strap on arch supports. I don't know if it is my arch or heel ro what.
