High Arch feet - Foot Problems Message Board

Hello, does anyone here has high arch feet? Mostly I have heard is about flat feet and recently, my orthopedic doc says that I might need surgery. I have weak nerves on the outside of both my feet/legs. He mentions that there is a condition that causes this problem but didn't say what though.

He has scheduled me for a EMG test. I have never heard anyone go for this test and wonder if anyone who has gone for it can tell me what to expect and how it feels? What I read from the internet was that they will insert a probe into your muscle... I did asked my doctor if the test would hurt and he said no. But the thought of having a needle stuck in my leg scares me! Shouldn't it be painful?

He gave me 2 options for my feet problem-orthotics and/or surgery. I already have made orthotics and I don't think they helped. I still wear the latest-made orthotics but a podiatry and I still have feet pain. I have this pain for more than 10 years. Does anyone have surgery done for high arch feet? Are there other treatments?

I have a high arch too and wear orthotics. I had bilateral bunionectomy and am still suffering from foot pain. My podiatrists office lost the casts for my new orthodics and now they want to charge me 100 more dollars for their mistake. Be carefull who you choose as your podiatrist.

That's not very nice of them to ask you pay again for loosing your cast! So are you still getting new orthotics? Did they help you? You say you are still suffering from foot pain, is it because of post op or the surgery didn't help you much?

They finally got the office manager to give me the price that was quoted. 250.00 instead of 375.00. The othosis had the date of August 8th on them. They have been sitting there all that time and no one called or anything. The reason I still have pain is because since i had to have the pin removed a year after the first surgery I have got arthritis in the big toe. I can't tipy toe anymore and I am short so I have always had to stand on my toes. If I have to had anything else done I will not be using that office for sure. Thanks for being so sweet and listening to me. It always helps when you have someone who understands. I have been so depressed this weekend. Not only about the foot thing..just eveything seemed to bother me. I hope this week will be a better week.

Hey dixiepeep, I sure hope you will have a better week! I've been to so many doctors for my feet problem and feel so exhausted. It's been going on for so many years. I could find no one to relate my problems to...

Anyway, I'm going back to my orthopedic doctor middle of May and see what else he tells me.
