| Re: how long does the op take??
I had a double bunionectomy & double hammertoe correction done last year-- I think it took about a hour & a half. I think I went to the hospital around 7 A.M. and was probably home by noon. That included time in pre-op prep, waiting for everything to be ready, getting rolled to & from the surgery room, a briefing with the anesthesiologist, surgery, and probably 45-60 min. in post-op. One thing that was weird-- I was totally aware after the surgery and felt "normal", but my sense of time was totally off. I was waiting for my husband to come and kept checking the clock because after what would seem like at least a half an hour, I'd look at the time and be very surprised to find that only a couple of minutes had passed. I was in no pain thanks to the block I had had. A wee bit of nausea, but nothing signficant and I didn't throw up. Best wishes to your daughter! (I am totally recovered now and very glad I had the surgery-- Just wish I hadn't waited so long and let my condition deteriorate as much as it did, so I understand your decision to go for it.)
