Ankle arthroscopy? - Foot Problems Message Board

Im having one in July has anyone else had one done? id like to know what to expect... :S

Sorry I'm no help, but am curious also. My foot/ankle dr is recommending arthroscopy for me also, to clean out scar tissue that is impinging in the joint. He sayed I'd be walking the next day, and back to normal activity in 4 weeks.

Keep us posted, as I'm still in decision mode.

I had ankle arthoscopic surgery 12 yrs ago due to my ankle locking and general pain. I had three small incisions which are not even noticeable today, total of five stitches and they cleaned out the joint, debridment, spur removal, cyst removal and they shaved some bone that the they thought was "catching".

Oh yeah.. I am on my second ankle surgery 8 months ago, had Mosiacplasty done (cartilage and bone transplant) - now that on the other hand... brutal!

I've had both my ankles scoped. Initially it's pretty painful, moreso than a knee. But the recovery is fairly quick. Takes about a month to feel normal.

HI.....I'm having Ankle Arthroscope on June 14th. I was told that I have to be on crutches with no weight bearing for 6 weeks! Umm...they finally reached this conclusion only a year after I initally injured my ankle! Umm..my doc told me my ankle will never be 100% and thats a hard blow for me since i was a Dancer for 15 yrs and also and gymnast and cheerleader. Hopefully this surgery does the trick cuz I've already been in 2 cast crutches for 2 1/2 months walkin boot for 2 months and air cast for the rest of the time! And I was told this surgery might not work and the next option is takin out a plug of bone/cartlege in my ankle and gettin some carlting plugs from my knew, but that is way more invasive and I'm in the process in moving to a differen state! So I will try to post what is going on with it and how the pain is to let you know. This is my first scope, so wish me luck!
