I'm 12 days post-op from radical bunion removal and Mortons Neuroma surgery. I'm still not suppose to do any weight bearing on the foot. About when will I be able to put weight on the foot and not have to use my Rollabout any more? I did have to put weight on it a couple of times when I lost my balance for a moment. I couldn't have messed the surgery up, could I? I go to the Dr. this Thursday to get my stitches out.
Re: Question For Those That Have Had Bunions Removed
I doubt you did any harm...are you in a cast or splint that offer protection ? I have put my foot down very briefly as well (lapidus bunionectomy last week) and I worry about same thing...I think you would really have to knock it hard or walk around a lot to ruin the surgery. I have been told I cannot put weight on for 6 weeks...seems like forever. I will use roll about and try to get more active as the days go by...but this cabin fever is hard. Good luck
Re: Question For Those That Have Had Bunions Removed
I was in a cast after bunion surgery and lost my balance twice and put weight on the foot, it was scary, but I didn't do any harm to it. It will probably be ok. There is so much to worry about and you never know for sure if you are doing the right thing. We all have to just try our best. Good Luck.
Re: Question For Those That Have Had Bunions Removed
I did the same type of thing with a second bunion surgery.
I felt a zing as in hitting a nerve.
It freaked me out!!!
I did no harm.
I guess mention it but you will have follow up xrays that will reveal anything.
One feels very frightened when those things happen.
Be very careful and wear the protective whatever at all times.....
